The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has lamented the inability of Ogun indigenes to fill their quota in the military due to low enlistment.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that Senator Gbenga Daniel made this known to journalists at Iwe Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta, on Tuesday, 25th June, 2024, while giving account of his Stewardship in the last one year as a Senator.

Otunba Daniel said he was always concerned when people from other parts of the country sought for his assistance in facilitating enlistment of their people into the Navy, Army, Air Force or the Police, while the people from Ogun State refused to utilize the available opportunity to join the military.

Senator Daniel traced the lack of interest in joining the military to the attitude of parents who discouraged their children from joining the military in the past, saying that people from other parts of the country took the advantage of the discouragement.

He therefore appealed to parents to encourage their children to join the military as there is career opportunity in the military profession.
