Indigenes of Ago-Iwoye in Ijebu North local government area of Ogun State, have showered praises and encomiums on their Monarch, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, as he celebrated the 2022 annual Oruken festival.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that the carnival-like festival took place on Saturday, 10th September, 2022, amid massive turnout and funfair in the town.

The festival kicked off at 6am when Oba Adenugba, accompanied by mammoth crowd who dressed in white T-shirts with the picture of the monarch, proceeded from the palace to his ancestral family home in the Okesote area of the town, to pay homage.

At the royal father’s ancestral home, prayers were offered by Traditionalists, community leaders, heads of ruling houses and several groups for Ebumawe’s peaceful reign and progress of the town.

Thereafter, Oba Adenugba moved in a long procession to the Oruken shrine where traditional rites were performed and prayers offered for the monarch and the town.

Oba Adenugba and his Olori took turn to dance to the Gbedu Drum amid cheers from the crowd, while other royal fathers present joined in the dance.

There were cultural dances and display at the occasion as well.

The highpoint of the occasion was an elaborate reception which was held at the palace ground for the guests.

Speaking with Great Achiever Magazine at the occasion, the Olori Omooba of Ago-Iwoye, Prince (Dr) Feyisayo Soyewo, MFR, congratulated Oba Adenugba for the success of the Oruken festival.

He also commended the monarch for being a rallying point for the development of Ago-Iwoye, noting that since Oba Adenugba ascended the throne, the town has continued to grow in leaps and bounds.

Prince Soyewo called on all sons and daughters of Ago-Iwoye to continue to support the royal father and give priority attention to the development of the town.

He assured Oba Adenugba of his unflinching support at all times due to the cordial relationship that exists between them.

A cross section of Ago-Iwoye indigenes who spoke with Great Achiever Magazine commended Oba Adenugba for his peaceful reign, adding that the town has witnessed tremendous development since he came to the throne.

They expressed their joy for being part of this year’s Oruken festival and prayed to witness more of the festival in years to come.

Oba Adenugba expressed his appreciation to the indigenes of Ago-Iwoye for their large turnout and other invited guests who gave him moral and financial support that led to the success of the Oruken festival.

He assured that next year’s Oruken festival will be bigger and better, as many individuals, groups and corporate organisations have signified their interest in sponsoring the event.

Several royal fathers and distinguished guests within and outside Ogun State were present at the occasion.
