Alhaji (Aare) Safiriyu Kazeem, a philanthropist and businessman, has donated four units of self contained Staff Quarters to Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ago-Iwoye Division, Great Achiever Magazine reports.

The official commissioning and hand over ceremony of the Staff Quarters took place at the premises of NSCDC, Ago-Iwoye Division, on Tuesday, 31st May, 2022.

A patrol van donated by Late Alhaji Sheu Fasasi Rufai, who passed on shortly after he donated the vehicle, was also officially handed over to NSCDC at the occasion.

In his welcome address, the Divisional Officer, NSCDC, Ago-Iwoye Division, CSC Oluwarotimi Samuel Isola, thanked Alhaji Kazeem and late Alhaji Rufai for their kind and generous donation to the development of the Corps.

The Divisional Officer acknowledged the tireless efforts and contributions of Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, the Council of Chiefs and Otunbas, as well as the good people of Ago-Iwoye, in facilitating an armoury and fencing of the premises of the Division which were commissioned in December 2020.

Isola also appreciated the kind gesture of Prince (Dr) Feyisayo Soyewo, MFR, an indigene of Ago-Iwoye, who gave the Divisional Officer a three bedroom flat as official quarters in Fibigbade Area of Ago-Iwoye, with a promise to donate patrol van to the Division.

He also disclosed that NSCDC, which started as an outpost in Ago-Iwoye, got a donation of four acres of land along Ago-Iwoye Secondary School road, through the efforts of Oba Adenugba, adding that these numerous efforts led to the upgrade of the outpost to Divisional Headquarters.

Speaking on the activities of NSCDC in Ago-Iwoye, Isola said, “Since its inception, the Division has helped in combating crimes by partnering with other sister agencies, engaging relevant stakeholders in day to day activities, inclusive of day and night patrols of the community and adjoining neighbouring villages”.

He said the Division has done excellently well in restoring peace back to many homes in Ago-Iwoye and environs, saying that the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of the Corps has mediated and settled over 60 cases revolving around marriages and family life since the beginning of the year.

Isola also thanked ACG Kufuli Rasaki, an indigene of Ago-Iwoye, for his tireless efforts in making the Division a vibrant one.

In his address, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Commandant Kolawole Taiwo, commended the donors for the support given to NSCDC.

He urged other members of the public to emulate the good deeds by assisting government at all levels in the provision of security gadgets among others for the benefit of all.

In his own remarks, the donor of the Staff Quarters, Alhaji Safiriyu Kazeem, the Chief Executive Officer of SAF Petroleum, said he was delighted to be used by God to undertake the construction of the Staff Quarters.

He said as soon as he was approached by NSCDC with the request for Staff Quarters, he did not hesitate to give his consent in financing the project, which started in earnest, adding that the project was completed in record time.

Alhaji Kazeem urged all indigenes of Ago-Iwoye who are living outside of the town to come home regularly to contribute their quota to the development of the town, as he charged members of the community to partner with NSCDC and other security agencies by giving necessary information that will aid their jobs in combating crimes.

While speaking with Great Achiever Magazine, Alhaji Safiriyu Kazeem disclosed that he has a covenant with God to dedicate the rest of his life to serving humanity.

In his closing remarks, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, thanked Alhaji Kazeem, who he referred to as his childhood friend, for his immense contributions to the development of Ago-Iwoye at all times.

He also thanked the family of late Alhaji Fasasi Rufai, who was represented at the occasion by Dr. Lekan Rufai, for the kind donation of Patrol van by the deceased before his death. He prayed God to grant Alhaji Rufai eternal rest.

Oba Adenugba appealed to all sons and daughters of Ago-Iwoye to always identify with the development of the town,  assuring that his doors are always open at all times.
