The Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Iwoye, has honoured some prominent members of the Church with Cathedral titles, reports Great Achiever Magazine.

The installation ceremony of the title holders, which took place at the Church on Saturday, 9th October, 2021, had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, including HRH Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye.

At the occasion, Demola Onalaja, a retired Colonel in the Nigerian Army was installed as the Asiwaju Ijo of Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Iwoye.

Col. (Dr) Onalaja (rtd) is the Senior Special Assistant on Security and Intelligence to the Senate President. He is also the Managing Director of Proton Security Services Limited.

Speaking with Great Achiever Magazine after his installation, Onalaja thanked God and the Church for the honour bestowed on him, assuring that he will live up to expectations in his responsibility as the Asiwaju Ijo.

He said he was greatly challenged by his new position, which he described as a call to higher service in the house of God, saying that as a devoted Christian, he would continuously serve God will all his resources.

Olotu Olusola Olufeisan, Alatunse Ijo, Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Iwoye

Olotu Olusola Olufeisan (MOW), another prominent member of the Church, was installed as the Alatunse Ijo.

Olotu Olufeisan is a community leader and devoted Christian who has served the Church in several areas.

He was the Treasurer of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ijebu, from 2005 to 2011, while he served as Member, Governing Council, Emmanuel Theological College, Ibadan, from 2006 to 2013. He was the Circuit Steward, Oke-Ita Circuit of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ijebu, from 2013 to 2020. He is currently the Chairman, Harvest Committee, and Secretary, Investment Committee, Methodist Cathedral, Ago-Iwoye.

Other members of the Church that were honoured with Cathedral titles include; Dame Olabisi Osunneye (KJW), Iya Ijo; Lady Grace Ebunoluwa Banjoko, Otun Iya Ijo; Otunba Ajiibola Ogundipe, Otun Baba Ijo; Chief (Mrs) Helen A Banjo, Iyalode Ijo; Prince (Dr) Seye Awojobi, Olumeto Ijo; Bro. Abel Ogunsanwo, Ameso Ijo; Pharm. Oluseye Odutola Adekoya, Majeobaje Ijo; Mr. Toluleke  A. Matilukuro, Otun Baba Ewe; Otunba Engr Olufemi Oyebanjo, Baba Egbe Adura; Engr Babatunde Ogunlana, Aseto Ijo; Mrs Adebusola A. Matilukuro, Otun Aseto Ijo.

In his sermon at the installation ceremony, the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Isaac Bola Osunjuyigbe, congratulated the new title holders for being found worthy of the honour.

Revd. Osunjuyigbe said all the new title holders are prominent members of the Church that have been doing well in the Church.

He disclosed that their installation is a call to serve God in the Cathedral and urged them to work with the spirit of God and not disappoint God.

The Bishop advised the new title holders to love and speak truth always, assist the ministers on how the work of God will progress, restore the lost glory of the Cathedral and bring in new members.

He charged them to use their wealth for the benefit of others and put heads together on how to uplift members of the Church and the Cathedral itself.

Revd. Osunjuyigbe appealed to the congregation to work together in peace and harmony.
