The 2019 edition of Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration will commence on Monday, October 7, with the traditional plucking of Woro leaves and paying of homage to the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Abdul-Razaq Adesina Adenugba, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye.
Oba Adenugba will pray for the progress and development of the town during the homage.
According to the Chairman of Ago-Iwoye Central Development Council (ACDC), Mr. Daniel Oluwatosin, today’s event heralds the week-long activities lined up for the celebration.
He therefore enjoined all sons and daughters of Ago-Iwoye to be part of the event.
Mr. Daniel disclosed that the activities lined up for this year’s celebration were carefully put in place for the benefit of the town and its people, entertainment of guests and indigenes alike who are expected to grace the occasion.
Some of the highlights of the 2019 Ago-Iwoye Day Celebration include free eye screening, beauty pageant and the Eberipo Night, where the local delicacy of the town, Eberipo, will be up for consumption on Friday, October 11, while a popular musician, Alao Malaika will be on band stand to entertain guests.
The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, during which a N500m fund raising in support of the town’s community hospital project will be launched.
