Otunba Bamgbelu bags Award of Illustrious Son of Oru-Ijebu

It was encomium galore on Saturday, September 28, as Otunba
Olorunfemi Bamgbelu, the Reyin of Tireyinland, was honoured with the Award of
Illustrious Son of Oru-Ijebu.

The Award ceremony which took place at the palace of Otunba
Reyin of Oru-Ijebu, had in attendance notable personalities within and outside
Oru-Ijebu.

In his welcome address, the Publisher of Great Achiever
Magazine, Mr. Yomi Ogunsanu, described Otunba Bamgbelu as a philanthropist of
note whose numerous contributions to the development of his community remain
indelible.

The Publisher recalled how Otunba Bamgbelu, out of his
undying love for his community and humanity, equipped Oru Health Centre with
some household items such as ceiling fans and freezers, offered education
scholarship to many Oru indigenes including the runner-up of the 2018 Miss
Reyin festival, took care of the elderly and widows through the Hope
Foundation, a non-governmental organisation which he established in 2011, sponsored
annual enrolment into Boys Brigade of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Oru-Ijebu, empowered
many artisans and several other good gestures which endeared him to his people.

In his remark, the chairman of the occasion, Chief M.A.O
Okubena, a community leader, attested to the qualities of Chief Okubena which
have endeared him to members of his community.

Chief Okubena said since Otunba Bamgbelu was installed as the
Reyin of Tireyin in 2018, the community, which has enjoyed peaceful
co-existence, has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. A feat he attributed
to the selfless service of Otunba Bamgbelu to his community.

He therefore encouraged Otunba Bamgbelu not to relent in his
efforts to better the lots of his people.

The Iyalode Egbe Maiyegun Obinrin, Oru-Ijebu, Mrs. Funmilayo
Lamina, on behalf of her colleagues acknowledged the generosity of Otunba Bamgbelu
and commended him for showing good leadership in the community. She called on
the young generation to emulate the good deeds of the Awardee.

The members of Egbe Maiyegun Obinrin, Oru-Ijebu, who were
fully represented at the occasion, thanked Otunba Bamgbelu, who is their Baba
Egbe and Akeweje, for his numerous support and the fatherly role he has been
playing for them.

Otunba Olorunfemi Bamgbelu, after receiving the Award
dedicated it to Oba Abdul-Rasak Adebanjo, the Oloru of Oru, whom he said, found
him worthy of being installed as the Reyin of Tireyin in 2018.
He therefore affirmed his loyalty to Oba Adebanjo and the entire
community.

Otunba Bamgbelu thanked the elders and the youths of Tireyin
for their support in the several activities he initiated and also in the task
of securing the community.

He assured that he will continue his good deeds which have
endeared him to his community, while calling on men and women of goodwill to
join hands with him in the quest to take the community to a higher level.

Otunba Bamgbelu thanked the management and staff of Great
Achiever Magazine for the honour done to him, and promised not to betray the
trust and confidence reposed in him through the Award.
