Ogun guber poll: Adebutu joins APM, lured by juicy offer

The political atmosphere in Ogun State took a new dimension on Thursday as factional gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, directed his followers to join Allied People’s Movement (APM), and vote for its governorship candidate, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade and other candidates contesting for the House of Assembly seats on the platform of APM on March 9.

The directive was the aftermath of the memorandum of understanding signed by Hon. Adebutu and Hon. Akinlade, after a marathon meeting attended by chieftains of the two parties.

Addressing newsmen in Abeokuta after the meeting, the Ogun PDP factional chairman, Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele, who also spoke on behalf of Adebutu, said that the decision to work with APM candidate was based on his credibility, uprightness and responsiveness.

Some of the positions given to the Ladi Adebutu group, if Akinlade becomes the governor include; 2 Commissioners, 3 Special Assistants, 2 Special Advisers, 5 Special Assistants, Chairman of SUBEB or Local Government Service Commission, DG-Lands or OPIC Chairman, Council Chairmen/Caretaker (one from each zone plus two in Ogun East Senatorial District).

It will be recalled that Hon. Adebutu lost to Senator Buruji Kashamu in a Federal High Court judgment delivered in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
