Coronavirus: Ikenne LG sensitises residents, distributes free protective equipment

As part of efforts to curtail the spread of Coronavirus, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Rotimi Akinsanya, has held a meeting with representatives of Community Development Associations and National Youth Council, Ikenne Local Government chapters, on the prevention and control of coronavirus.

Hon. Akinsanya, in his address at the meeting, stressed that  mobilization and sensitisation of residents of the Council Area  remain the panacea to curbing the dreadful virus.

The chairman, at the occasion, launched Personal Protective Equipment, such as customised buckets with tap, hand wash bowls and soaps.

He expressed his appreciation to the National Youth Council, Ikenne local government chapter for effectively partnering with the local government on the campaign against  COVID-19 pandemic,tagged, “Stay safe”.

The President, National Youth Council , Mr Odumosu Gbenga, thanked the local government for its cooperation and requested for more assistance to meet up with the budget projected for the campaign.

Chief Ade O. Onabowale, on behalf of the Community Development Association, also thanked the local government for carrying the Association along in its various interventions on COVID-19 pandemic.

The Head of Local Government Administration, Engr. Abass Muhammed Isola, while  emphasizing the importance of hygiene, said that after eliminating the coronavirus, living hygienic life should be part of our every day culture.

Present at the meeting were members of the Transition Committee of the local government.
