The Lilypond Export Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has announced a revenue of N7.1 billion from the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) for the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a slight increase compared to the N7 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
The Area Controller of Lilypond Export Command, Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Lagos.
Comptroller Odusanya stated that the command handled 11,459 containers in Q1 2025, marking a substantial rise from the 5,891 containers processed in the first quarter of 2024. He emphasized that the export revenue came from a diverse mix of commodities including agricultural produce, manufactured goods, solid and extractive minerals.
The export value for Q1 2025, according to the Area Controller, reached $986.4 million, a remarkable 318% increase from the $236 million achieved in the same quarter of 2024.
Agricultural produce accounted for $596.8 million; Manufactured goods contributed $329.9 million; Solid minerals brought in $50.1 million; Other goods contributed $87.4 million.
This uptick in export activities, Odusanya noted, is part of the Federal Government’s economic diversification efforts and is crucial to Nigeria’s broader economic growth strategy.
He said the Lilypond Export Command’s ability to handle increased export volumes was also attributed to its more efficient handling of export cargoes, especially with the consolidation of export activities under the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi’s leadership.
Comptroller Odusanya commended the efforts of stakeholders and sister agencies for their contributions to the growth in exports, adding that their continued collaboration is vital for seamless trade facilitation and boosting Nigeria’s global trade footprint.
