The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and Trade Union Congress, TUC appear to have put their differences behind them, as they jointly agreed to begin total, indefinite and nationwide strike from Tuesday, October 3.
The two Labour centers say the federal government has completely failed to meet the yearnings of workers and by extension Nigerians.
In a communique at the end of their separate national executive meetings held virtually and jointly read by NLC President, Joe Ajaero and his TUC counterpart, Festus Osifo, the Labour leaders say the action is shifted to third, in honour of the country’s independence celebration.
The two Labour centers cautioned the police not to allow itself to be used in harassing officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW as well as warn Lagos state government for continued clampdown on activities of the Road Transport Employers Association Of Nigeria, RTEAN.
NURTW is an affiliate of NLC and RTEAN is of the TUC.
