Aishat Maina, the Special Adviser on Female Education to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto, died on Tuesday.

Hajiya Maina died in Sokoto while leading a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign.

The deceased was caught in a stampede at the exit gate of Giginya Stadium, where the event was held.

Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, the head of the Forum of Special Advisers, confirmed what happened and talked about her last moments.

According to Gusau, the ambulances took Maina to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, but she passed away shortly after being admitted.

Maina was once the head of the National Association of Women Journalists of Nigeria (NAWOJ) in Sokoto.

Before being sent to the Female Education Board, she worked as Tambuwal’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media.

Isa Abubakar Shuni, the head of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Sokoto, praised Maina for helping female journalists during her life.

The deceased government official is survived by three children and her elderly parents.
