Ongoing road rehabilitation
Ago-Iwoye town in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State, has literally been turned to a construction site, courtesy of the ongoing massive roads rehabilitation in the town, facilitated by the Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Adesegun Adekoya, as part of his constituency projects.

The areas benefitting from the rehabilitation include; the stretch of Igan road through Isamuro road; Fibigbade Street from Ome Bridge at Konigba Block Industry junction to Ojude Olooto, as well as rehabilitation of Idikanga night market.

Presently, contractors have moved to site with heavy earth moving equipment, while construction workers were seen working on the concrete drainages, walk ways and other ancillary areas that are prelude to laying of asphalt.

One of the contractors who spoke to Great Achiever Magazine, disclosed that, with the speed the rehabilitation work is going on, the job will be completed in good time.

Some residents of Ago-Iwoye shared their views with Great Achiever Magazine about the ongoing roads construction.

OTUNBA S.A RUFAI (MEFU OF IGAN QUARTER, AGO-IWOYE)
I thank Hon Adesegun Adekoya who is doing well in this town.
As he is doing well, he will not fall. Those behind him will not fall as well.
Even though we have seen someone like Chief Jubril Martins Kuye and the good things he had done for Ago-Iwoye, but Hon Adekoya is in a class of his own with the good things he is doing for Ago-Iwoye.
As the Mefu of Igan Quarter, I thank God on behalf of the people of Igan for what we are benefitting from Hon Adekoya.
When he wanted to rehabilitate the Erilope bridge in our area, he came to me and we went on inspection together before the work commenced.
After completing the Erilope bridge, I was there during the commissioning.
The ongoing township roads rehabilitation that passes through Igan road, which he facilitated is a commendable effort, and I pray that I will be part of the commissioning when the rehabilitation is completed.
Hon Adekoya is still going to higher places by the grace of God.Those who have been elevated by God, and are doing well for Ago-Iwoye will not fall.
I pray that God will continue to bless him.
ALHAJI RASIDI OYESILE YUSUF (BABA AGBEDE)
The people of Ago-Iwoye have long suffered the hardship of bad roads.
Therefore, I’m very happy with the current roads rehabilitation that is going on in our town.
I thank God for sparing my life to witness the commencement of the roads rehabilitation. I pray that I should still be alive to witness the completion, and be part of those who will drive on the roads including our children.
We heard that it is the federal government that is implementing the project, but our son, Hon Adekoya, whom we voted for as our representative in the National Assembly, facilitated it to Ago-Iwoye as his constituency project.
I pray that God will continue to help him. Just recently, Hon Adekoya erected street lights across the town which made us very happy.
We are in the era of the youths and I pray that as you are all striving to do good things in Ago-Iwoye, God will continue to strengthen you.
OMOOBA MUFUTAU ADEBAJO (BAALE EYIN-ETIRI)
The people of Ago-Iwoye are happy over the roads rehabilitation going on in our town.
We are hearing that it is Hon Adesegun Adekoya that has brought the project to Ago-Iwoye with the approval of the federal government.
I’m not surprised because Hon Adekoya has always been a good person who has the love of his town at heart.
We are lacking good roads in the rural areas, which is preventing the farmers from bringing their farm produce to the town with ease.
I hereby appeal to the government to help us construct the rural roads to make farming easy for the rural dwellers.
OTUNBA NELSON A. ODUNTAN (OBARUWA OF ISAMURO QUARTER, AGO-IWOYE)
On the roads rehabilitation presently going on in Ago-Iwoye, I want to say that, though, there may be some inconveniences being suffered by residents on account of evacuation of the roads, that is definitely the price that must be paid to enjoy good roads after completion.
Therefore, I appeal to residents to please bear the pains in good faith.
What we want is that, when our children are in positions of authority, their impacts must be felt in the town. We knew those who were there before and what they did. Therefore, I commend Hon Adesegun Adekoya, for facilitating the roads rehabilitation.
Infact, Ago-Iwoye is always lucky to have indigenes of the town occupying top political positions. But the question remains; what have they used the position for? Look at the Ago-Iwoye – Ilisan road that had been abandoned over the years.
When Gov Gbenga Daniel was there, he did his own and left. Gov Ibikunle Amosun got there and abandoned it. Now, Gov Dapo Abiodun is there, but we don’t know what he wants to do.
Incidentally, an indigene of Ago-Iwoye, Hon Dare Maba, occupies the number four or five position in Ogun State, and we were told that the road will be done.
But before you know it, four years will be over and their tenure will end. I don’t know the problem with that particular road.
The money Amosun spent in reconstructing two new bridges in replacement of the one Daniel constructed which was still in good condition, was enough to complete the road. But we pray that God should help us.
OTUNBA (MRS) ADERONKE ODUNEYE (IYALOJA GENERAL OF AGO-IWOYE)
I want to thank the federal government for granting the request of our representative, Rt. Hon Adesegun Adekoya, to rehabilitate the township roads in Ago-Iwoye, which had commenced in earnest.
Hon Adekoya is an astute politician who knows his onions. He is always close to his people, thereby giving them what they want. He has facilitated several dividends of democracy to his constituents.
Recently, he sponsored skill acquisition training and empowerment programme for the women and youths. After the training, he gave them free working tools.
Again, Hon Adekoya installed street lights in the town and distributed free cooking gas, while he has also assured the market women of his intervention that will aid their trade.
I pray that God will continue to help him.

The roads presently being constructed in Ago-Iwoye is a welcome development and laudable projects, considering the fact that Ago-Iwoye has been an ancient town and we’ve been expecting such things as this.
I want to thank those who are in charge of the projects. At a time like this, Ago-Iwoye needs good roads to enhance its status and improve commercial activities.
Once again, I salute the effort and courage of the person that facilitated the projects.
ALHAJA KIKELOMO OSINOWO (KIKELOMO RENTALS)
The roads rehabilitation embarked upon is a welcome development to all of us and we are happy about it. However, it has little negative impact on our businesses.
But at the end of the roads rehabilitation, we will all smile because it is going to be to the benefit of all residents of Ago-Iwoye.
We implore them to expedite action on the work and not allow it to become abandoned projects.

I must say that I’m very impressed with the development going on in Ago-Iwoye from all sides.
Let me tell you; I don’t bother who is doing it or the party that is doing it. All I’m interested in is development of Ago-Iwoye.
The particular construction going on right now, facilitated by Rt. Hon Adesegun Adekoya, a prominent indigene of Ago-Iwoye who is much loved by the people, and giving us quality representation in the National Assembly is a thing of joy.
I’m very much impressed by the various developmental projects he has been bringing to Ago-Iwoye, and this particular one we are talking about right now is so impressive because the work is going on at a frenetic rate. It is as if the world is going to end tomorrow.
When you see the level of work done today and you go back tomorrow, you will see a marked difference.
The quality of work being done is very fantastic. I’m also impressed with the drainages and walkways going along with the construction.
This is because if you are constructing roads without drainages, you are just wasting your money, as the roads will not stand the test of time.
Ago-Iwoye is now changing for good because you see private people coming to put up buildings and various structures for business purposes.
Therefore, I congratulate all Ago-Iwoye indigenes and Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye because all these are happening during his time.
More are still coming because I’m in a position to know that a major construction work is going to be started before the end of this year, and that is Ago-Iwoye – Ilisan road that will encompass some construction works in the town.
That is another project being brought in by another prominent indigene of the town. I will not let the cat out of the bag yet.
Isara-Ago-Iwoye too is going to be reconstructed. So, I’m very happy about all these.
Therefore, I want to congratulate Hon Adekoya for his strides because in government, all these things are not easy to come by.
It means he is in Abuja for serious work. He has to go to all the ministries to lobby because without doing that, you won’t get all these things done.
And this is what has been lacking in the past, but I can see that good things are coming back to Ago-Iwoye.
So, let us continue to pray for Hon Adekoya for the good work he is doing.
ALHAJI ALI ADENIYI SHITU (CHIEF IMAM OF AGO-IWOYE)
The roads rehabilitation they are doing in Ago-Iwoye will no doubt boost the economic activities of the town.
For a long time, the roads in Ago-Iwoye were bad, frustrating and impeding movement, which people were not happy about.
The bad roads have always made it difficult for farmers to transport their farm produce to their destinations.
But now that they are undergoing rehabilitation, we have to thank the person that made it possible and pray for success in all his undertakings.
I want to advise that as they carry out the rehabilitation, there should not be total blockade of movement of the people.
As they are doing one side, the other side should be left for people to pass through and vice versa.
Leaving the rehabilitation works abandoned for two to three weeks without doing anything should not be allowed to happen.
This will therefore minimise the hardship people will experience while the rehabilitation lasts.
Once again, I thank the facilitator of the projects and pray that Ago-Iwoye will continue to witness more of this kind of development.
OTUNBA (PROF.) SOLA ADEBAJO (OSO-OLU OF IMOSOSI QUARTER, AGO-IWOYE)
When one looks at the current development going on in Ago-Iwoye, one will discover that we’ve never had it this rosy.
It is very surprising to see roads rehabilitation works going on simultaneously across the town.
Actually, the facilitator of the projects, Hon Adesegun Adekoya, from day one has been a grade A politician.
He threw himself into politics wholly, wanting to help his people.
Like I said, it is very surprising, but we will continue to pray for him.
I told some people that Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta is his final destination. That is where he will end up by the grace of God.
