COVID-19 lockdown: Odogbolu LG Chairman distributes relief materials

Hon. Obafemi Onakoya 

The Chairman, Transition Committee, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon Obafemi Onakoya, on Thursday, embarked on distribution of relief materials to the poor and vulnerable residents of the Council Area to cushion the effect of the coronavirus lockdown. 

Speaking with Great Achiever Magazine on the criteria used to select the beneficiaries, Hon. Obafemi disclosed that a committee was put in place at the ward level of the local government, comprising of Traditional Council, League of Imams and Alfas, Christian Association of Nigeria, Community Development Associations, Market Men and Women, to identify the poor and vulnerable people within the community.

Onakoya said, such poor and vulnerable people inthose who are sick, elderly, widows, and single parents.

He therefore commended the committee for doing a thorough job and being transparent in generating the list of beneficiaries of the relief materials.

Onakoya said all the wards in the local government are being visited to distribute the food items, explaining that people were happy with what the government has done.

e also commended Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his magnanimity and his commitment towards bringing succour to the people in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The Council Chairman appealed to those who are yet to benefit from the relief packages to be patient, as it will soon get to them because the distribution is an ongoing exercise.
