Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the postponement of the ‘stay at home’ directive given by President Muhammadu Buhari, till Friday.
The governor made the announcement on Monday, while commissioning the COVID-19 Isolation centre at Ikenne.
Abiodun said the postponement was to allow the state government conclude adequate arrangement for the distribution of relief materials to the vulnerable people to cushion the effect of the directive while the stay at home lasts.
The governor added that 3 food banks will be established at the 3 senatorial districts of the state, where distribution of the relief materials will take place, without religious, ethnic or political bias.
Governor Abiodun confirmed that he spoke with the president on the need to extend the take off date of the stay at home directive in Ogun State till Friday, to enable the state and its residents conclude adequate preparation for the 14-day stay at home.
Great Achiever Magazine reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, in a nationwide broadcast, announced the cessation of movements in Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States, for 14 days, effective from 11pm on Monday, as part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
