The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo zonal office, has arrested bank workers, who do steal customers’ money after they’ve died.
The EFCC made it known that, when these bank workers discovered that a customer is dead or it has been long a customer did transaction on his account, they will forge the customer’s signature and withdraw the customer’s money.
EFCC also made it known that, they do give customers wrong debit on deposits and transfer the money to another account, which they use another name to open.
The suspected criminals are: Mbong Essien, Ubong Udom, Precious John, Akwa Ephraim Akwa and Kenneth Udoetuk.
Already, they have been arraigned before Justice Archibong Archibong of the Akwa Ibom state high court, sitting in Uyo on Monday 02, 2020.
The suspects were charged with forgery, conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and converting customers’ deposits illegally to the tune of thirty seven million, six hundred and ninety thousands naira (#37,690,000).
Their secret got exposed after customers of the banks where the suspects work petitioned EFCC of the wrong withdrawals being made on their accounts, by unknown people, including the account of a deceased man.
