The governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared as the governor-elect of Plateau State following the supplementary election held on Saturday.

The Returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Richard Kimbir, made the declaration after Lalong scored 595,582 votes to defeat his main opponent, Jeremiah Useni of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 546,813 votes.
The results of the re-run election held in 9 local government areas of the state showed that Lalong polled 12,327 votes, while Useni polled 8,487 votes.
