Cultural Ambassador calls on musicians to uphold culture and decency

An Ibadan High Chief and veteran journalist cum broadcaster,
Chief Lekan Alabi has called on musicians to use their songs to uphold culture,
tradition and decency in the society.

Chief Alabi, a cultural ambassador, made the call while speaking with journalists in
Abeokuta, on the activities lined up to mark the 40^th remembrance anniversary
of the late music icon, Chief Yusuf Olatunji (aka Baba Legba).

He noted that some of the songs of recent times are full of
fury and less of substance, even though there are still good artistes in the
country that are creative, talented, and of good conduct.

He therefore advised the present crop of entertainers and
musicians to take into consideration the culture and tradition of decency and
public etiquette.

Going down memory lane, Chief Alabi recalled one of the
highly educative and evergreen songs of Chief Ebenezer Obey which he sang to
commemorate the change of traffic from the left side to the right side on 2^nd
April, 1972.

He appealed to the young artistes to borrow a leaf from the
departed stars like Chief Yusuf Olatunji and living legends like Chief Ebenezer
Obey, King Sunny Ade and many other talented artistes, who used their songs to
impact positively on the society.

Speaking on the 40^th remembrance anniversary of
Chief Yusuf Olatunji, Chief Lekan Alabi, who is the Chairman of Yusuf Olatunji
Foundation, said the activities lined up for the occasion, which is coming up
at Ibadan on Saturday, 15^th December, 2018, include, Fridau Prayer,
Public Lecture on impact of music on the society and Musical show.
