“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.”—William Arthur Ward

This
quote shows us that what we can dare to dream, we can hope to achieve.

Still, many people are hampered by their lack of imagination, which is
why only few of them manage to aim for the stars and achieve success in
life and career.

In this article, you will learn about seven behaviors
that can transform your life and career while leading you to the path of
success.

If you abide by these seven behaviors, you can achieve what
you set your eyes out for:

1. Set Ambitious Goals

Every
success story starts with a goal, a purpose or an objective, right?

When setting goals, you should never shy from aiming high.

 As Norman
Vincent Peale says, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”

Why do people set such a score by setting ambitious goals? Napoleon Hill answers this question in his book “Think and Grow Rich” when he writes, “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish but keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”

Remember, you can achieve your goals when they are intrinsically
motivating.

Set time bound goals so they can push you to the best of
your abilities. This helps you think more creatively and achieve the
extraordinary.

2. Transform Your Subconscious Mind To Get Insights

In one of his bestselling self-help guides, “The Power of your subconscious mind”, Dr Joseph Murphy sums it up brilliantly: “What is impressed in the subconscious is expressed.”
This shows that whatever impinges on our subconscious mind, will
eventually find a path out through our lips and is reflected in our
actions and behaviors.

Instead of working together, our conscious and
subconscious minds are at perpetual odds with each other.

This is why Albert Einstein once said, “Never go to sleep without a request to your subconscious mind.”

All successful entrepreneurs
take some time out before going to bed to reflect, visualize and even
speak aloud.

In order to achieve success, you should feel and visualize
the taste of victory.

Keep telling your subconscious mind about the
goals you want to achieve in myriad ways, and you will eventually
achieve that goal sooner than you think.

3. Focus on the Process

We
all tend to focus more on the end results and our minds are
well-drilled to do so from a very tender age.

Although, it might work to
some degree, but the real change comes when you shift your focus from
results to the actual process you need to implement to achieve the
desired upshot.

As Jim Rohn said, “Success leaves clues”
and you will have to look for those clues to repeat the process.

If you
want to achieve success in any field, it is highly recommended that you
replicate the process successful people follow rather than focusing on
what they have achieved.

To put it in a nutshell, instead of wishfully
envisaging yourself in the shoes of up-and-coming contenders and
drooling over their accomplishments, you should try to glean inspiration
from the paths they have adopted to reach there.

4. Work like No One Else Does

“If you do what you have always done, you will always get, what you always got”—Mark Twain

If
you want to achieve something that no one else has achieved, you will
have to break the glass ceiling and do something out of the ordinary.

Challenge yourself by working in a counter intuitive environment that
could bring the best out of you.

These counter-intuitive environments
help you look at a single thing from many different perspectives and
angles, which could pave the way for a unique creation.

Did you know
that the famous Einstein’s research paper that transformed modern
physics was not written in an academic setting but rather in a Swiss
Patent Office? Just some food for thought!

5. Surround Yourself with The Right People

You
might not have realized it yet but what people think about you and how
they perceive you, goes a long way in influencing your performance.

Ever
wondered why a child develops the same expectations as their parents
have for them.

Surround yourself with people who motivate you and act as
a source of inspiration, rather than folks who take up a special
pleasure in demotivating you and exude a negative vibe that eats at your
productivity.

If you surround yourself with successful people, you can
be more productive.

6. Start with Quantity and End with Quality

In one of his books, “Originals: How non-conformists move the world”,
Adam Grant uncovers a startling fact.

According to him, people who
produce innovative and unique works are not reliable.

Not everything
they produce is amazing.

Pablo Picasso, the greatest painter to have
ever lived, fashioned thousands of art pieces with only few considered
as masterpieces.

Similarly, Mozart and Beethoven boast more than 1200
songs between them but only a handful gained recognition.

Whenever you
are trying to carve a niche for yourself, focus on quantity, not
quality.

The more you produce, the better you will get with time.

Sooner
than you think, not only will you be able to produce works that are
unique, but also be of high quality. As Seth Godin would say, “Plant a lot, harvest a few!”

7. Expand and Adapt

The
pace at which things are changing around us is overwhelming.

If you
fail to keep up pace, you will quickly fall behind the race and slowly
become a misfit for the current environment.

Human beings have an
amazing ability to adapt to changing situations and people who do it
brilliantly, are the ones who succeed.

In his famous book, “The Man’s Search for Meaning”, Said Frankl writes, “A person can get used to anything, just don’t ask us how.”

A skill differentiates a winner from a loser. If you want to be on the
winning team, you should learn to adapt and continuously grow as both a
professional and a person.
