Ogun State
Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Saturday, commended the peaceful conduct
of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ogun State.
Governor Amosun casting his ballot
Amosun, in
his remark after casting his ballot at the Itoko polling unit in Abeokuta,
observed that the elections were generally peaceful, while the voters conducted
themselves in an orderly manner.
He therefore
urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve in the
subsequent elections by correcting the shortcomings that were noticed in the
Presidential and National Assembly elections.
On his own
part, Chief Olusegun Osoba, a former Governor of Ogun State, expressed
satisfaction with the high turnout of voters, but was quick to add that INEC
must find solution to the minor problems that manifested due to insufficient
voting materials and non functional card readers.
Meanwhile,
Alhaji Sarafa Isola, a former Minister of Mines and Steel, lauded INEC and the
electorate for a successful election which was devoid of crisis.
Alhaji Isola
urged the voters to turn out in large numbers during the Gubernatorial and
House of Assembly election coming up on March 2.
Also speaking
to journalists after voting, a former speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly,
Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni-Gomez, said she was impressed with the peaceful conduct of
the election, as everything went very well.
She
expressed confidence that the outcome of the election will be in her favour.
