The Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Dare Kadiri, has been released by the police after spending about 24 hours in police detention.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that Hon. Kadiri was arrested and detained on Friday at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, over the allegation of leading suspected hoodlums to invade the residence of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, at Oru-Ijebu.

The Deputy Speaker, however, denied leading suspected hoodlums to attack the SSG’s house or any other house in Oru-Ijebu.

He said contrary to the video circulating that he sent hoodlums on attack mission, what actually transpired was that, one Yinusa led the police to the residence of Hon Obagun purportedly searching for APC registration materials which were allegedly hoarded at Obagun’s house.

Hon Kadiri said: “When they got to Obagun’s house, Yinusa forcefully broke the door to gain entry, and this angered the people living around the area who descended on Yinusa and beat him.

“The police, led by the DPO of Awa-Ijebu, rescued Yinusa and put him inside their Hilux van.

“It was at this point that I arrived the scene and instructed that pictures of the scene be taken for the purpose of evidence.

“As my loyalists attempted to take the picture of Yinusa inside the police van, the police officers wanted to stop them, and this made my loyalists to tell the police that, ‘it was our Oga that sent us’, that is, to take the picture of Yinusa, and not that  I sent thugs to attack, as the voice in the circulating video was being erroneously misinterpreted”.

Hon. Kadiri disclosed that his presence at Oru-Ijebu on the said day was to calm frayed nerves and ensure normalcy.
