Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has stated that it will be a difficult challenge for the lawyers of the Osun State State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to reverse the judgement of the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal.

You may recall that the tribunal removed Adeleke from office for overvoting at more than 700 polling units during the governorship election and then pronounced the previous governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, the winner of the gubernatorial election that took place on July 16, 2022.

During an interview that took place on Arise TV on Sunday, Falana encouraged voters in Osun State to file a claim for damages against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) because of the wasted votes.

He stated that the voters in specific locations should file a lawsuit against INEC for damages because the commission had squandered their ballots.

“Looking at the judgement, I believe very strongly that it is going to be a daunting task to impeach the judgement. INEC has to be held completely responsible for what happened.

“INEC will have to go back to the drawing table so that we will not have this experience. INEC will have to put its house in order, If we have this in a presidential election, where you issue one or two reports, it will have a crisis of monumental proportion.”
