Ogun Best Teacher, Kayode Adewale selected for United States Global Educators programme

The winner of 2020 Ogun State Best Senior Secondary School Teacher Award, Kayode Adewale, has been selected as one of the participants in the Limitless Global Educators Programme in Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that Adewale, a Fulbright TEA Fellow and the 2nd Runner-Up for Best Teacher in Nigeria 2023, was selected as one of the 20 global participants in the prestigious Limitless Global Educator STEM professional development programme, which is sponsored by the Limitless Space Institute (LSI) in Houston, Texas.

The programme aims to inspire and educate the next generation to travel beyond “our solar system” and support the research and development of enabling technologies.

Kayode Adewale is the convener of Transformation5130, a four-day capacity training for Nigerian teachers on using 21st-century tools to prepare global citizens. His commitment to educational excellence is evident in his extensive work.

The Limitless Global Educator programme will include exclusive behind-the-scenes tours of leading space industry organizations such as NASA, Axiom Space, and Venus Aerospace, while participants will work directly with astronauts, engineers, scientists, and other esteemed STEM professionals to develop innovative STEM-focused lesson plans and receive specialized training to integrate advanced space science concepts into their curricula.

According to Kayode Adewale, his participation in this programme will significantly benefit Nigerian education, as he has previously trained over 5,000 teachers on using 21st-century tools to prepare global citizens. His dedication has earned him numerous commendations and awards, including the Champion for Innovative Change Award in Teaching Mathematics by the Mathematical Association of Nigeria and the President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award (PTSEA) 2023.

A versatile educator, Kayode is a Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE), Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow, MIE Master Trainer, Global PhET Translator, Innovative Teacher Fellow of TASUED, and a member of the Greater Akron Mathematics Society (GAMES), an affiliate of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, USA. His accolades include the 2nd Runner-Up for Best Teacher in Nigeria 2023, the 2022 Ogun State Champion and Top 10 finalist of the Maltina Teacher of the Year award, and the 2020 Ogun State Best Senior Secondary School Teacher Award.

He has facilitated nearly twenty programmes at local and international levels and has been involved in over fifteen projects. Notably, his Transformation5130 programme, a four-day capacity training for Ogun State secondary school teachers, aims to share insights from his Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievements programme. He has also contributed to the Ogun State Teachers’ Digital Resource cloud project; served as the Chief Technical Director/Quiz Master for the National Economics Olympiad (NEO), and participated in the Ogun State virtual learning initiative for video content creation at Ogun State Television (OGTV).

Kayode Adewale’s passion for utilizing 21st-century skills in teaching is evident through his YouTube channel, which features over 200 videos on mathematics and teacher development programmes, garnering close to 1,000 subscribers and more than 30,000 views. He is also active on his Facebook page, promoting the teaching of mathematics and virtual instructional engagement for teachers’ development programmes. 

As a Go-Ga Master Trainer, he has over twenty Inquiry Learning Space (ILS) and is proficient in using Microsoft Teams for classroom instruction. A research designer, programme evaluator, and trained research methodologist, Kayode has published well-researched papers in learned journals with over 12,000 readers on ResearchGate.

Kayode Adewale appreciates the Ogun State government for employing him as a Mathematics Teacher nearly two decades ago and for the honours he has received at the state and national levels. He also thanks other stakeholders in education sector in Ogun State for their support and encouragement, as well as his colleagues, students, and followers,  promising to share all the experiences gathered from the programme with his colleagues and all science educators in Nigeria, allowing students to travel beyond “our solar system”.
