The Nigerian Police has extended an invitation to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, over alleged terrorism financing.

In a letter signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Adamu Mu’azu, on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, says it is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion and Cybercrime in which Joe Ajaero was mentioned.

The letter said Ajaero is being invited for interview by the team on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, by 10 am prompt, at IRT Complex, Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team Leader with telephone no 08035179870 in connection with the investigation on the allegations mentioned above.

The letter, however warned that in the event of failing to honour the invitation on the stated date and time, the IRT office will have no alternative than to activate a warrant of arrest against the NLC President, Joe Ajaero.

Efforts to get a full-fleshed reaction from Joe Ajaero or the spokespersons at the NLC headquarters has not been successful, as Joe Ajaero only replied Abulu Osemuaghu’s WhatsApp message of enquiry with “Hahaha”

The NLC had commissioned a forensic investigator to identify what it calls suspected ‘bugs’ left behind during the invasion of its Secretariat by a team of security personnel on Sunday, August 7, 2024.
