SSANU, NASU reject distribution of FG’s ₦50bn for Varsity unions

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has thrown its weight behind the ongoing strike by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU).

ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke says both unions and any others within the University system have the rights to use any means deemed necessary to pursue its course.

The ASUU President, told Newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, that even though ASUU would have loved not to comment on NASU, SSANU embarking on the industrial action, what is not ideal is for one union to be making reference to another union, to justify its decision to go on strike or press home its demands from its employers.

Meanwhile, ait.live gathered that ASUU branches across the country are holding Congresses to assess the SSANU/NASU strike.

A lecturer at the University of Abuja, who pleaded not to be named, confirmed that the Congress meetings are not unconnected to the withdrawal of activities on campus by SSANU and NASU.
